THE BEAUTIFUL SILK LANTERNS OF HOI AN IN CENTRAL VIETNAM

They are everywhere.

They hang from trees, line the store fronts, and light the markets at night.

Hoi An is one of those towns that is able to transport you back in time, and a lot of it has to do with these beautiful silk lanterns. Wandering around the old town, I feel as though I’ve stumbled into some ancient Asian fairy tale.

I’ve already extended my stay in this little place, but with only one month to cover the full length of Vietnam, it’ll be time to keep moving in a few days.

In the meantime, I leave you with a few photos of Hoi An through silk lanterns:

Four bright lanterns hang in a back street in Hoi An.

A man rides his bicycle down the street with purple lanterns in the background.

Lanterns in various shades of red hang like fruit from a tree.

More lanterns can be seen lining the town’s busy streets.

Red and white lanterns decorate the facade of this colonial building.
